Excellent advice Terry and it's so much better with the pictures thanks for the time and effort.

I myself needed to level mine this year but with not having ramp and not being used to the twin axle I avoided pitching in the spot I wanted an lost a fantastic view. Instead of facing the beach and the associated view glasses2 I pitched facing the toilet block. I have to say that after a few days of nagging we moved to another pitch.

If only I had been more confident. But next time I will be thanks to you.

On our recent holiday, I had to level the van side to side, so I thought that I would update an earlier post of mine explaining how I have done it for several years now, only this time I have four included photographs

I for one always use a pair of the yellow Fiamma levelling ramps, normally we use the car, but in this case we used the movers.

1st - I reverse on to the pitch and I stop the van about 4ft from where I want to finally be.

2nd - I place the first ramp behind the rear wheel on the side that wants lifting up.

3rd - I then reverse the van up the ramp until it is at the top and the second ramp is placed about 6 inches behind the first ramp.

4th - Then reversing slowly the rear wheel will climb down the back of the first ramp onto the bottom of the 2nd ramp.
3

6th – When you are at the required height, apply the caravan's hand brake and chock it's wheels using the two chocks that came with the ramps, then finally unhitch the caravan from the car.

N.B.
•   You do not have to reverse onto the ramps, there is nothing to stop you going forwards on to them, either with your movers or the tow car.
•   If your van is fitted with 4WD motor movers you can use these instead of the towcar, but make sure that the jockey wheel is pointing straight ahead towards the front otherwise the van will tend to go slightly off to one side.

We are thinking of having a change from France and Spain next year and must say that Croatia looks very tempting indeed after reading your interesting report.  Well Done!

i heard somewhere that there are certain laws about towballs but not sure.

got a second hand towbar which has a alko black towball on it do alko use special towballs or is this suitable for a standerd hitch which is on my caravan
A new towball must be stamped with it's ISO number and have an E11 label on it, showing it's Class, D Value and S Value,
mine reads:-
e11 00-1488
CLASS    A50/X
D Value  17kN
S Value  200kg
